dickey betts was a genius. his compositions musically are unparalleled. his lyrics give us a glimpse into ourselves. his guitar playing broke all the rules that hendrix had rewritten. only duane allman could really know dickey's depth. to say i am dickey betts biggest fan would be a huge understatement. thank you mr. forest richard betts. here is a great promotional photo and a 4 page biography. these are from the mid 1970s. out of dougs allman cave , ships to lower 48 states only. thank you doug mckee an allman brother wannabe and owner of an allman brothers band museum. please bid. i saw the dickey betts band and dickey betts and the great southern over 80 times. i saw him with the allman brothers band over 260 times. i saw him once in lakeland fl.  circa1980. his amplifier was cutting out. after 3 songs he took his guitar off and swung it hard. his hands were on the upper neck as the body of his les paul made contact and more with the grill of his amp. he walked off stage. the rest of the band finished the song and left the stage. after 10 minutes gregg ,jaimoe butch, rook and danny came back and played whipping post without dickey. what an odd show and the shortest concert they ever played . maybe 35 minutes??  pictures of me and the band do not convey
