In 1966 gregg and duane allman had their 1st real band called the Allman Joys. they later formed the hour glass and then the allman brothers. here is a flyer (not a news ad) from 1966 when the allman joys were calling themselves the spotlights for a few weeks. the flyer lists them as the spotlighters. they are appearing with the sandpipers which was a female vocal group they often had open for them. a 45 record of the "batman song " Batman and Robin is included with this handbill and reprinted photo. it is a mystery if gregg and duane played on this 45 record. gregg denied it yet it sounds like them enough that they could be on it. they had to play the batman song a few times because it was on this flyer. after a few weeks they regained their identity as the allman joys. at the end of 1966 they transformed into the hour glass . this hand bill is torn, creased, stained and severely damaged. parts are missing. it comes framed with a newer reprint photo of the allman joys. you also get the rare 45 batman record. out of dougs allman cave. ships to lower 48 states only. this is a piece I treasure because it may be the only time the spotlighters were on a printed handbill. thank you doug mckee, an allman brothers band member wannabe. the price is high because of the rarity of these items . the hand bill is 55 years old and is approx. 7 x 5.5 . the record is 55 years old. the photo is a 15 years old Reprint.
