    Description

Folks, up for consideration is a rare artifact from days gone by.  This is an
    Antique Maritime Ship Porthole
    .  This
    Maritime Ship Porthole
is a beast weighing over 105 lbs.  I purchased it from an estate from a man who served in the
Navy on the USS Macon CA132
which was in commission as a heavy cruiser from 1943 - 1961.  He told me his son found this ship in a salvage yard and purchased this ship porthole from the USS Macon for him.  Whether this is true, I cannot prove it beyond what the gentleman told me.  I did find out the ship was sold to a salvage yard in New Jersey in 1973 so it is entirely possible.  Check the history of the USS Macon below from the Wikipedia link.   The porthole itself has 3 pieces to it and each piece weighs about 35 lbs.  It is missing the hinge pin (picture #10).  The glass is intact although it does have some small little marks on the glass like something from the sea did over decades of being in the water.  This Vintage Maritime Ship Porthole is about a 20 inch diameter.   Because of the weight I prefer local pickup but will ship upon request in 3 separate boxes.  Contact me for a shipping quote.
