    Description

    Button depicts the South Carolina state seal, the Palmetto tree with "SC" on lined field, intended for South Carolina troops, this size was most commonly used by Citadel cadets. Backmark: "HORSTMANN & ALLIEN / (dot) N (dot) Y (dot)" between rings. Two part cadet coat size button (18mm), convex. Nondug button, produced ca. 1860.; nice patina, slight wear, intact.
