YOU ARE PURCHASING 1 HEAD ONLY!
This used Cleveland 485 56° SW Head is ready to be shafted, gripped, and put back in the bag. It's in good used condition for it's age. Needs some cleaning and TLC, but is still playable. It may feature some unique buffing and grinding marks which could lead to cosmetic rust in the future. It has nicks and dings associated with age and bag life. This would be a fun project for someone who enjoys assembling clubs. This is the last 485 head I have.
My father was Scott Bess and in 1969 he won the Missouri State Amateur. Shortly after that, he turned Pro and played on and off for the next several decades, including the PGA Tour, Nike Tour, and some PGA Senior events. He was a staple of the Gateway Sectional and played on two PGA Walker Cup Teams. On top of that, over his career, he also played in 11 Majors.
In High School, he began repairing clubs and was a certified repair technician for several brands. In the 70's, he designed and sold his own line of persimmon woods. He met Roger Cleveland in the 1980s and they began a personal and professional relationship. My dad would work for several major brands including Cleveland and Callaway. Designing, tweaking, and making recommendations on several lines of clubs. He would work on the PGA Tour with players personally and travel with the tour most of the year. The stories he could tell, the things I witnessed as a child/teenager, could fill a book! Seeing other Professionals, Major Winners, seek him out for help with their swing or with a specific request on the grind of a wedge was something to be proud of.
He never could let anything go, and with his passing, I became the beneficiary of over 5,000 clubs, bags, prototypes, and other rare PGA tour memorabilia. I have spent nearly the last two years finding new homes for all of his things.
