    Description

    Historical Background
    - Made by J.C. Deagan Inc, Chicago, Illinois around 1917 - 1919 the model #350 was the first marimba series produced.  The model #350 uses Nagaed (rosewood) bars, with a compass of F-c4, and brass resonators.  The frame is made of Oak with nickel-plated steel legs.  The lowest bar is stamped 350.
    This Instrument
    - Serial #611 designates it one of the oldest Deagan marimbas produced.  This instrument was meticulously disassembled, cleaned, polished and reassembled.  There are NO cracks or chips in the bars!  All resonators have their amazing polished brass finish.  Only 5 resonators have small cracks at the bottom (see image of resonator underside).  The resonators for the lower octave are adjustable.
    Original Parts
    All bars
    Resonators
    Wood Frame
    Upper & Lower leg sections
    Recently Fabricated Parts
R & L resonator bar supports were cut from Oak and stained to match the original wood
The underside (frame) Cross Bar and the small stabilizer brace were created from steel tubing
New rubber feet, plastic bars spaces, the upper bar cord and felt washers were purchased
    Notes
The bars have not been tuned
Using a digital tuner I believe 4 to 5 bars are slightly flat and will require fine-tuning
