    Description

Random Lot of Matchbooks/Boxes - 12 . Included are The Plaza Hotel and Russian Tea Room (NYC), Harry Caray’s and Spiaggia (Chicago), Spago (Beverly Hills), Hog’s Breath (Carmel) Cooper’s Alley (Corpus Christi), Hotel Captain Cook (Anchorage), Caribou Club (Aspen), Golden Nugget (Las Vegas), Riverhill (Kerrville, TX), and Villa Vera (Acapulco).
A bit of background on some of these places . . .
Spiaggia was located on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and was one of the Obamas’ favorite restaurants (it closed this past July when lease negotiations fell through). Hog’s Breath was originally owned by Clint Eastwood. A members only venue, the Caribou Club is so private that it is located behind an unmarked door. The Captain Cook is the only Preferred Hotel in Alaska. Villa Vera was, in its heyday, frequented by Hollywood royalty and was the site of Elizabeth Taylor’s and Mike Todd’s honeymoon. Harry Caray’s was, of course, founded by the legendary “Holy Cow!” broadcaster.
The Golden Nugget is one of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas and is where Steve Wynn started his rise to Vegas prominence.
This is truly a special grouping of matches. There are a couple of spots on the striking surface of the Cooper’s Alley matches (see photos), but none of the matchbooks or boxes have been struck.
