    Description

RZU Japanese Petcock Upgrade for RZ350
If you have the original Yamaha petcock,
only ride the motorcycle with the petcock adjustment knob turned to the "On" or "Reserve" position. To make sure your petcock is working properly, remove the main fuel delivery hose
when the motor is not running
and make sure that there is no fuel flow when the knob position is set to both
    the "On" and "Reserve" position
    .
    The "Prime" position
    flows fuel continuously
whether the motor is running or not
    and
is only used to fill the float bowls when they have been stored empty or after a carburetor rebuild.
If your petcock doesn't completely shut off or drips fuel with the motor not running,
it will, eventually cause fuel to enter the lower crankcase and the left side exhaust pipe. T
o avoid a motor hydrolock and a damaged connecting rod,
make sure your petcock does not leak, if it does, evacuate all the fuel from the exhaust pipe and lower crankcase before attempting to start the motor.
If the petcock is leaking, we recommend replacement as there aren't any Yamaha rebuild kits available to repair it and aftermarket parts are not reliable. Some Yamaha replacement parts are available for the original petcock but they are not the ones needed to solve the leak of the main fuel delivery passage which occurs when the motor is not running. This common failure is caused by a faulty diaphragm assembly which Yamaha does not sell which is why we now produce a quality Japanese non-diaphragm replacement petcock that will not leak.
The RZU replacement petcock retains the same fuel flow but has a positive shut off position with
    a slightly recessed
shaft that accommodates the original RZ350 adjustment knob. The original Yamaha petcock metal 90 degree fuel hose elbow must be reused. Instead of having a "Prime" position and the need for a vacuum hose,
    the
    RZU petcock
has an "Off" shut off position instead, and retains the"Reserve" and "On" positions which function the same as the OEM petcock does.
    Our RZU upgrade kit
includes the replacement petcock, main gasket,
    sintered
    bronze element in-line fuel filter
    ,
longer fuel hose to metal tee, 2 OEM fuel hose clamps and installation instructions.
The in-line fuel filter fits well in the limited amount of space offered, and prevents debris that flows through the petcocks
mesh screen from reaching the carburetors.
Best of all, the RZU petcock won't leak like the
original Yamaha petcock is prone to
    .
We carry all necessary replacement parts for the
    RZU petcock
    should they ever be needed.
    NOTE:
The original Yamaha petcock "metal 90 degree fuel hose elbow" and "selector knob with screw" must be reused on the RZU petcock.
